2011 SFR Reading Challenge

Greetings programs, humans, alien lifeforms, cyborgs, bioroids and cyber lifeforms!

We're kickin' it right back to day 1 - book 1 with the new and spiffy annual SFR Reading challenge right here at the new location. If you've ever wanted to try a sci-fi romance, a romantic SF book or if you're a fan waiting to tackle the TBR pile, come on and join some fellow travelers in reading and reviewing some great SFR/RSF reads.

For a primer, check out last year's post on the defintion for SFR and for some titles to get you started: http://raelori.blogspot.com/p/2010-sfr-reading-challenge.html

Here are the levels to hop in on:

--The Earth Reading Challenge – Read 5 SFR novels.

--The Moon Reading Challenge – Read 15 SFR novels.

--The Venus Reading Challenge – Read 25 SFR novels.

--The Jupiter Reading Challenge – Read 50 SFR novels.

Since SFR is a new and growing genre, we're going to keep it small and start building it up over time.

Audio books, ebooks, graphic novels and all that good stuff counts.

The challenge will go from January 1st, 2011 - December 31st, 2011 where we'll do a wrap up and hopefully share some great reads. You can add books in the genre you've read earlier this year to help you toward your overall yearly goal.

Sign up below and please post the blog address which you'll be reviewing/listing/mentioning the books! Reviewing is entirely up to you and posting a book list beforehand is also optional.

So grab the button and let's get started!

I'm going easy on myself this year and start out with the Earth challenge since this is one of a few challenges I'll be doing this year.

Happy reading to all!

Hi, Rae! I can't wait! This is going to be fun.

I may up my level later, but for now I chose Moon. I know I have many more than 15 SFRs in my TBR pile but I also have a LOT to do this year and several borrwoed non-sfr books to read and return to their owners. LOL.

Happy Reading! This will be fun!

I'm starting on 'Earth' as well. Doesn't mean I won't end up going higher, but this way, if life interferes, I can at least manage 5 books!

I'll fly to the Moon, though I'd love to reach Venus!

I'll be blogging my SFR reads at lonejackfiber.wordpress.com
I'm going to try for the Venus Challenge this year.

Oh yes! I forgot to add. If you'd like to rec any books feel free! I'd love to spotlight different reviews of SFR books since they aren't as prevalent as other genres reviewed. So if you would like to send one in, please let me know and I can post it here as a spotlight. :-)

Recs are welcome as well (I need more for my tbr shelf hehe).

I will be recommending my SFR books at mixedbookbag.blogspot.com. I have a post with all the SFR books I read in 2010. Go look and see if I found any that you may have missed. Quite a few of the books also have posts some time during the year.

I forgot to add what I am going for. I am trying the Venus Challenge. I was half way between Venus and Jupiter last year and think I will be about the same for 2011.

Sounds like a lot of fun! I'm going to go for the Moon Challenge :)

I'm doing the Moon Challenge. I haven't read 1 sci-fi rom book yet this year, but I will!

Thanks JC! I'll trot on over to check out your recs. I'm pretty sure I may have missed some on my shelf. :-)

Like JC, I was between Venus & Jupiter last year, so I'll go for Venus this year.

OK, I'm in again for the Moon Challenge. Hopefully I do a little better in 2011!

First up:
Enemy Within by Marcella Burnard

(OK, I confess. This one is actually a carryover from 2010.)

I'm going to stay on the Earth this year, and go for 5 SFR books.

First up is probably Primary Inversion by Catherine Asaro. I just bought in on audio from audible during a great "first of a series" sale.

Oh wow, how did I just find out about this? Too fun! Great page and great idea. Well, I'm aiming for Venus, since I've already read 11 Sci Fi Romance books this year. What I've already read, the Harvest series by Anitra Lynn McLeod, The cyborg seduction series by Laurann Dohner, Passion Model by Megan Hart, Mech Man by L.J.Garland, From the Ashes by Maree Anderson. I also have two releases in SFR, one as myself, Stellar Timing by Jennifer L. Hart is now available in ebook and an Erotic Futuristic as Jenna McCormick coming December 27th from Kensington Aphrodisia.

Anne took the words out of my mouth--I'm reaching for the moon, but hope to go as far as Venus. This could be tricky as I got here a little late. ;)
